Attawapiskat chief calls for Trudeau to intervene, more suicides
00
Another flare of the suicide epidemic has hit the remote Northern Community of Attawapiskat this week, prompting the community’s chief to request a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Chief Bruce Shisheesh shared copies of a letter he wrote to Trudeau urging for immediate intervention to the ongoing crisis, calling it a matter of life and death.
This week nine people attempted suicide in the community.
The Prime Ministers office has not yet shared a response to the invitation.
