Contaminants that spilled into Grand River still unknown, Ohsweken water safe

The contaminant that leaked into the Grand River in Kitchener over the weekend is still unidentified.
A resident alerted the Ministry of the Environment about the spill on Friday afternoon. Cleanup crews acted quickly to contain the contaminant and identified it came from the city’s sewage system
Michael Montour, Director of Six Nations Public Works said their department was informed quickly about the situation and took immediate precautions to ensure Ohsweken water supply was protected.
Samples of the spilled substance have been sent for testing to confirm the source. No one has take responsibility for the spill.
