Buffy Sainte Marie takes home two Juno awards

The 2016 Juno Awards were this weekend in Calgary. First Nations music icon Buffy Sainte Marie was honoured with the award for Aboriginal Album of they Year and the Contemporary Roots Album of the Year for her latest release Power in the Blood.
The indigenous music veteran also performed a spoken word piece during the Juno’s broadcast.
Sainte Marie said the musical talent in the indigenous community is very diverse – crossing all genres – and thanked the CARAS Academy for recognizing diversity within indigenous culture.
