Provincial funding to help First Nations families

00

Executive Director of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres Sylvia Maracle said provincial funding to support Indigenous families in crisis and dealing with intergenerational trauma is going to have a positive impact for generations.

Maracle said she was pleased with the funding commitment from the province, which will help develop a survivor-oriented human trafficking intervention program, new police training and mental health support for survivors and support for men and boys to speak out against all forms of violence against women.

Maracle said the dollars invested will ensure there is space for indigenous families to talk, heal, remember and develop their indigenous identity.

Maracle said the investment ensures a different legacy for indigenous children and grandchildren.
