Canadian healthcare must overcome systemic racism toward indigenous patients
10
The College of Family Physicians of Canada released a new report on the role that systemic racism plays in shaping the health care experiences of Indigenous patients.
Dr. Darlene Kitty worked on the report and said systemic racism is a significant contributor to the disparity in health outcomes experienced by Indigenous peoples.
Kitty said she hopes physicians reflect on the findings and consider ways they can contribute to provide indigenous patients with high quality care in a positive and culturally safe environment.
