Kahnawà:ke anticipates new nation to nation relationship with Canada

Minister of Indigenous Affairs, Carolyn Bennett met with The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke to discuss issues surrounding membership, land grievance, economic development and specific issues facing their community.
Kahnawake Grand Chief Joseph Norton said it was a good meeting.
Norton said he was encouraged by the outcome and said he was pleased the Minister reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to start building a nation-to-nation relationship with community and the Mohawk Nation.
