March marks 10th Anniversary of Land Reclamation
00
A group of Six Nations members and supporters marched through Caledonia early Sunday morning to mark the 10th Anniversary of the land reclamation along Plank Road.
The group travelled through Caledonia and celebrated together at the Mohawk Ganohnses on Fifth Line for a pot luck breakfast.
The land reclamation at Caledonia began in February of 2006 with three women handing out flyers to oppose a housing development on property that was under land claim for the Six nations of the Grand River.
It was one of the largest acts of indigenous resistance in Canadian history.
