Ontario to improve trail system

00

New legislation has passed to sustain and improve Ontario’s trails system.

The new act will protect and enhance thousands of kilometers of the province’s urban, suburban, rural and remote land and water trails.

Ontario has the second-largest trails network in Canada, with about 2,500 trails spanning over 80,000 kilometres that support recreation, tourism and active transportation.

Tourism Minister Micheal Coteau said the new act will ensure generations can experience the province’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
