Ontario announced nearly $222 million dollars in funding towards indigenous health care in the province.
The First Nation Health Action Plan investment will be followed with an annual $104 million dollars in funding to address inequities in the health care system and improve access to culturally appropriate care for First Nations patients.
Anishnabek Nation Grand Council Chief Pat Madahbee said the investment is a positive step forward to addressing areas of need for First Nations in the North.
A portion of the funding will provide access to fresh fruits and vegetables for approximately 13,000 Indigenous children in northern and remote communities.
