Young woman from Six Nations takes First Place in Miss Indian World

Chezney Martin from Six Nations competed in the Miss Indian World competition in Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend. Chezney took 1st runner up in the national pageant, coming short just six points of being crowned.
Chezney was also awarded the Best Talent Presentation award for her part in the competition. The new Miss Indian world for 2016 is Danielle Ta’Sheena Finn from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of Porcupine, North Dakota.
The Miss Indian World Contest selects an honourable representatives for all of Indian Country for the entire year. The successful contestant travels throughout the country speaking on indigenous issues and bringing awareness to the concerns of Indian Country.
