2016 Indigneous Events granted $125,000 from Ontario

The 2015 Concert For A Cure event in Ohsweken saw David Wilcox headline.

Ontario announced a $15 million dollar investment into special events this year supporting over 200 festivals and events.

The Six Nations Concert for a Cure received nearly $9000 in funding. Three other indigenous events; ImagiNATIVE Film Festival, Summer Solstice Ottawa and the Capital Fair Pow Wow brought the total to just under a quarter of a million dollars invested into indigenous specific events for the 2016-2017 season.

This investment is part of the liberal government’s economic plan to build Ontario up by growing the economy and creating jobs.

Every year, festivals and events across the province support tens thousands of jobs and generate millions of dollars in revenue.

Minister of Tourism Micheal Coteau said events in Ontario attract visitors from all over the world.

Couteau said the investment will offer new experiences to tourists coming into Ontario, supporting economic growth in communities across the province.
